Since the launch of Chat GPT in November 2022, there has been an unprecedented uptake in the use of technology in business, even in law - an industry typically more cautious when embracing new technology. Whether this new-found acceptance stems from the general social movement towards technology, exacerbated by the pandemic, or from greater trust in technology built upon the foundations of Active Learning, is not clear. What is apparent is that the legal industry is taking confident steps towards being more tech-friendly, embracing AI tools such as Relativity Translate, Sentiment Analysis and now aiR for Review, a conclusion that excites us greatly!
What is aiR for Review?
aiR for Review is Relativity's latest AI tool to hit the market and is set to shake up the way we review documents forever. aiR for Review takes the best of Generative AI paired with the security offered by the RelativityOne environment to revolutionise document review, resulting in faster processes, greater efficiencies and increased savings. It is one facet of Relativity's highly anticipated aiR suite of tools: aiR for Review, aiR for Privilege, and aiR for Case Management.
How does it work?
Based on OpenAI's GPT-4 technology, aiR for Review acts as a first-pass reviewer, highlighting documents it believes to be relevant to your matter based on the training material you provide.
Training: The first step you must go through with the tool is training. Unlike Active Learning where the model is trained on a number of documents, learning from the coding decisions you make, aiR for Review is instantaneously trained via a prompt. This is comparable to the question you pose when using Chat-GPT. This prompt commonly contains the same information as your Review Protocol, with more attention paid to context and specific keywords for the algorithm to flag.
